Thermal Reconditioning on African American Hair Texture
Gina Rivera
has been a hairstylist for 34 years and the owner of Hair’s Talent Salon for 26 years. She has a true passion for hair care, especially African-American hair. She believes that African-American women would embrace their fine textured hair if they knew how to maintain its health through proper moisturizing and scalp cleansing. She is determined to let everyone know that all African-American hair is “good hair” and that there is an alternative to getting weaves, wearing wigs, and using harsh chemical relaxers. There is a way for all African-American women to grow long, healthy hair. Gina has come up with a technique specially designed for African-American textured hair. For the past 6 years, clients have flown and/or driven in from the Caribbean Islands, Greece, California, Virginia, Washington, Las Vegas, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, and all over Connecticut to Hair’s Talent to receive Gina’s special technique for African-American textured hair.
What are her secrets?
Gina DOES NOT do weaves and extensions, use bleach on relaxed hair, use heavy gels, use grease, or use cholesterol to condition African-American hair. Gina has been servicing Japanese Straightening/ Thermal Reconditioning for the past nine years and for the past four years, Gina has been servicing the Japanese Straightening/ Thermal Reconditioning on her African-American clients, when it was told that it was not intended for the African American Textured hair. Gina was determined and customized her own techquenic. Most woman of color uses sodium hydroxide on their hair to get it straight , this makes the hair lifeless hair loses it's body and has a tendency to break and damage the hair if don't incorrectly. It takes at least 2-3 treatments before the Japanese Straightening/ Thermal Reconditioning is at its successful peak when used to grow out a relaxer that caused damaged and breakage to African-American hair. The Japanese Straightening/ Thermal Reconditioning does not cause breakage, but leaves clients with healthy and shiny hair. Clients who are not growing out a relaxer will see results immediately with the first treatment. Every African-American client who has received the the Japanese Straightening/ Thermal Reconditioning is 100% satisfied with the results, especially the non-breakage of hair and the speed at which the healthy hair grows. Gina has another successful procedure for growing out a relaxer—a Gina Curl. The Gina Curl is a wonderful tool to grow out your relaxed hair. Clients choose to either keep the Gina Curl or wear their own natural curl.
Since all the African American hair hype on the new movie GOOD HAIR that Chris Rock stared in and after seeing his interview on Oprah Gina realized She had to finally speak up. She has been servicing an African American clientele for years. Black hair has been her passion. There have be many times where she was the only white woman in her salon She has clients calling from Australia, Canada, Texas, Alabama, Georgia and many more states asking if she know any one in their area that does what she does at her salon.
She has something here that no one else has, a technique that is done on African American Textured hair that was said was not recommended.
The subject of hair is a very touchy subject with black woman and she know coming from a white girl that she can now make a difference and be very successful.Gina is determined to teach black and biracial children that they are not cursed with bad hair only cursed without knowing how to care for their hair. Gina is tired of hearing white moms telling her" IF I KNEW MY DAUGHTER WAS GOING TO HAVE THIS NAPPY HAIR I WOULDN'T HAVE LAID WITH THEIR FATHER"these moms think Gina would side with them, because she is white, but they are wrong. She wants to teach these children that we all have bad hair until we learn how to keep it healthy and learn how to work with it.With biracial children growing in our society there is a need to teach white stylist how to service black hair. And black sylist to understand that there are alternatives to keeping their hair healthy and with lenght.
